R for Vendetta

Yes!
I finished one of my reports!

Actually I have three reports now.

We have to make reports about media or computer usually.

Disgusting!!

But these three reports are different form usual one.

because these reports are about Movies.

I love Movies!!

And the theme of the reports I finished now is following…

First of all, you watch one movie.
and analyze it from the perspective of design of sound.


The movie I chose was STAR WARS episode1.

I’m really interested in the sound effects in Science Fiction Film.
but I saw not only STAR WARS today.

I saw six movies altogether.

1, V for Vendetta
2, West Land
3, Chicken Run
4, Kamikaze
5, STAR WARS episode1
6, Departed

And I’m going to show my short reports about these movies.

「V for Vendetta」

I’ll write about the last scene using miniature sets. Miniature sets of Big Ben in U.K. As everyone who has seen this movie knows, in the scene, the heroin, Natalie Portman make the bomb get ready and start it. After that, big explosion make Big Ben broken at all.
Usually if we use miniature set, we could feel uncomfortable and it doesn’t seem to be real because of gravity or atmosphere pressure.
However, I never felt uncomfortable at all during this scene so I think the miniature set is quite large. And not to give us uncomfortable feeling, I think the crew of this film got a closer shot in this scene. The closer shot is more suitable than the shot from a distance. And in the shot from a distance, it seemed used computer graphics.
Anyway, it is great and high-quality scene.
The story is very clear and comprehensible because in the early scene, the hero in this movie, V asks everyone for getting together on 5th November in next year and it makes us know that end of this movie would be this day.
In my opinion, if we make such a little bit difficult movie, we have to tell us easily.

「West Land」

This movie was made by the director who made Jurassic Park. I thought his film must be great so I rent it.
The impression of this movie is disgusting.
Actually I can’t complain about this movie because this movie is very old and technology is quite low but there are lots thing to learn as bad example.
And it forced me to know how great movies there are now and I could know the possibilities in movie industry from now on.
But I like this film’s idea.

「Chicken Run」

Finally I found this movie at TSUTAYA. My friend recommended to me and that’s why I saw this movie. This movie is so called clay animation, every character are made of clay.
This movie is much better than I expected.
That’s lighting and texture is so great that I couldn’t believe it is just a clay animation.
It seems a live-action movie due to quality of animating and texture except that characters are clay.
If I dare say something bad points, the action of characters is a little bit unnatural. I think its format is 24 flames a second and the betweens of each flame seem unnatural.
Because in a clay animation, we have to make animation by hand. It doesn’t matter when we use computer graphics.
But I think it’s also good feature of a clay animation.
By the way, this movie’s story is based on old film, The Great Escape.

「Kamikaze」

This movie is Luc Besson’s early film. The idea of this film is that there is one old guy who got fired. He is always frustrated by anchor woman because she looks like his ex-boss. He also inventor and he invent the new machine that can kill people through TV network. It means just his sitting front of TV and pushing the start button of that machine can kill anchor woman.

I’m so exhausted because of these too long articles.
So I just wrote idea of this film but I’ve already written in Japanese.
It’s a sort of hard work to translate into English.
